To table a motion
剛剛才發現, 據說, “to table a motion”這個片語, 在英美兩地, 用法剛好相反:
英國英文: To table a motion = to discussion a motion
美國英文: To table a motion = to kill a motion
所以如果想準確一點兒去表達, 還是用 “to lay a motion on the table” 去表達 “擱置討論某提案” 這個意思.
有沒有朋友可以confirm一下, 此乃正確與否?
